May Accused of Attempted Bribe prior New Vote on Brexit

Brexiteers outline EU deal terms

Theresa May has been accused of offering Labour MPs "Brexit bribe" funds for run-down towns amid reports the Government has abandoned attempts to put a time limit on the Irish backstop.

Other senior Tories say that while May still faces an uphill struggle to win over numerous most hardline Tory opponents of her deal - and the 10 Ulster Unionists - many others who helped inflict the 230-vote defeat in January are now looking for ways to back down and support it.

The poll also suggests that, if there was a People's Vote on Brexit with a choice between staying in the European Union or leaving on the terms negotiated by the Government, then Labour's voters across the East Midlands would support staying in the European Union by 78 to 22 per cent.

There is no direct allocation for Scotland announced in the funding plan. It could also destabilize Northern Ireland's peace process, which relies on an open border.

Negotiations on Theresa May's EU Withdrawal Agreement appear to be mired in deadlock after what both Downing Street and the European Commission admitted were "difficult" talks in Brussels on Tuesday.

"As long as the attorney general is able to assure the house that he has a legally binding guarantee that the backstop can only be temporary, I would accept that and would urge others to accept it", he said.

"The attorney general continues with his work to ensure we get legally-binding changes to ensure that we are not locked in the backstop", Communities Secretary James Brokenshire said.

"We're now at a particularly critical stage in these negotiations", said the spokesman.

To win the March 12 Brexit vote, May's minority government will likely need the support of rebel Labour lawmakers, some of whom could prepared to back the government and ignore their own party's instructions to block her deal.

"After Brexit, it should be for parliament to decide what rules are most appropriate, rather than automatically accepting European Union changes", May said in a statement issued by her office.

The Good Friday agreement of 1998 that ended 30 years of sectarian unrest in the province demands that border control posts are never replaced at the frontier.

She added: "These towns have a glorious heritage, huge potential and, with the right help, a bright future ahead of them".

A party spokesman said Mr Corbyn would be seeing former ministers Sir Oliver Letwin and Nick Boles as part of a group of Labour and Tory MPs who support the so-called "Common Market 2.0" model of a close economic relationship.

The Independent Group's Brexit spokeswoman Anna Soubry said the move was a "desperate measure to buy votes". United Kingdom will be leaving Brexit on 29March.

The British government said that the fund would be targeted at the places that had not shared fairly in the prosperity of the country.

The "Stronger Towns Fund" will be divided into two sections, with one billion pounds ($1.32 billion) distributed according to needs, and a further six hundred million pounds that communities can bid for.
