UK Says Second Brexit Vote Would Take Over a Year to Organize

Nigel Farage submitted

With Parliament deadlocked, some observers say a second referendum is needed to allow the people to vote on the deal and additional options.

Labour's Corbyn said he would not meet with May until she ruled out a no-deal Brexit.

Most Conservative lawmakers reject a customs union because it would prevent Britain having an independent trade policy - one of their main demands.

Yet ever since the United Kingdom voted by 52-48 percent to leave the EU in June 2016, British politicians have failed to find agreement on how or even whether to leave the European Union.

Mr Carswell wrote: "It was crystal-clear to us that if the referendum became a Cameron vs Farage contest, we would lose". Opposes a no-deal Brexit and says Theresa May must call an election if she can not achieve consensus in the Commons.

"You can not take no deal off the table".

She has held brief discussions with leaders of the SNP, Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and the Green Party in an attempt to find cross-party solutions.

The MPs were speaking yesterday after Theresa May's Brexit deal was rejected by the House of Commons by a record 230 votes and the Prime Minister on Wednesday survived a "Vote of no confidence" by just 19.

After defeating the no-confidence motion, May said she would hold talks "in a constructive spirit" with leaders of opposition parties and other lawmakers in a bid to find a way forward for Britain's European Union exit.

78% of the seats Labour has to take from the Tories to win the next general election voted Leave. It does nothing to alleviate the worry and uncertainty people feel, ' he said.

Other opposition parties wrote to Corbyn after the confidence vote to demand he now back a second referendum, which Labour has agreed should be considered if it can not force an election.

"The fact that my team are willing to continue talking to her team of senior ministers this morning suggests that at least there is a willingness to explore these things", the Lib Dem leader said.

Mr Hammond began the call by explaining that the defeat raised two questions; can Article 50 be revoked and "whether we can somehow take the option of no deal off the table".

May said she was "disappointed" by Corbyn's decision and stressed that "our door remains open".

Labour MP Graham Stringer, a Brexiteer but who voted against the PM's deal this week, disagreed with Mr Corbyn's stance.

Meanwhile, May has invited her parliamentary opposition into negotiations, in hopes of crafting a consensus Brexit agreement.

A YouGov poll, conducted on behalf of the People's Vote campaign and published on Wednesday, revealed support for a second European Union referendum among Labour supporters is now at 78%.

"It is not within their power to mandate any future course of action, that would be for a Government to do".

All parties committed to leaving the European Union by accepting the outcome of the referendum.

The Prime Minister also promised provisions to defend the interests of French fishermen.

Five orders will be issued within three weeks to prepare France for a hard Brexit and €50 million will be invested in ports and airports, "the most important places when it comes to imminent changes to be made in the light of no deal Brexit", said Philippe.
