Investigators piece together what happened in 3 months of Jayme Closs' captivity

Jayme Closs 13

The grandfather of a northwest USA girl held captive for months says the family has no connection to the man suspected of kidnapping her and killing her parents.

Investigators say 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson shot James and Denise Closs to death in their home near Barron on October 15 and took their daughter, 13-year old Jayme Closs.

It had been almost three months since she went missing from her home in Barron, where her parents were found dead. He was pulled over near where Jayme Closs was found and arrested thanks to a vehicle description she provided. He was jailed on suspicion of kidnapping and homicide.

Detectives believe Closs was held by suspected abductor, Jake Thomas Petterson, 21, in a rural cabin near where she was spotted, and about 60 miles from her family home in Barron.

Finding Jayme alive has brought up a lot of emotions for kidnapping victims and families of missing children.

Investigators have said Patterson's goal was to kidnap Jayme, but he appears to have no connection to the family.

Jayme's grandfather Robert Naiberg reiterated Saturday that the family had no connection with Patterson and didn't know him. He said Jayme told Federal Bureau of Investigation agents she didn't know him at all.

Nutter said Jayme did not have a coat or gloves.

He said it is also important for Jayme to know that "anything you're thinking and feeling is normal". (But) he knew what he was doing.

The terrified teenager was found by dog walker and social worker Jeanne Nutter, who said the girl begged for help and revealed her name.

Roseanna Marie Forcum last was seen in St. Paul in 1998 when she was 15.

Officers say they don't think their paths crossed. Charles Glynn and Richard Jones said in a statement that they await Patterson's initial court appearance and the filing of charges against him on Monday. The discovery ended an all-out search that gripped the state, with many people fearing the worst. After almost 90 days of being held against her will, Jayme Closs is finally home. The killing of Jayme's family and her own disappearance had been a major subject of news and attention in the area.

Jayme's aunt wrote on the teen's return to normalcy saying, "It will be a long road but we are family strong and we love this little girl so much".

Another Aunt, Sue Allard, said she could barely express her joy after learning the news.

Kasinskas said. Police were called - but before they arrived, Jayme told them that she'd been held in the Gordon area, near Kasinskas' home, by someone who killed her parents on the night she disappeared.

Jake Patterson, 21, allegedly shot and killed Jayme's parents. "She did not talk about why or how".

"The suspect was out looking for her when law enforcement made contact with him", Mr Fitzgerald told a news conference, adding police were not seeking any other suspects in the case at this time.

While the young man worked at the same meat processing plant as Jayme's parents almost three years ago, he did so for only one day and police said there is no evidence that there was any contact between them.

Almost three years ago, Patterson worked for one day at the same meat products facility where Jayme's parents also worked - the Jennie-O Turkey Store plant in Barron - the company's president said.

Jayme has been described as "medically cleared", although Sheriff Fitzgerald was unable to comment on whether the youngster had endured any abuse while being held captive.
