Khashoggi's sons plead for father's body return

Prince Al-Waleed dubbed the Warren Buffett of Saudi Arabia was among those rounded up and was released in early January after an undisclosed financial agreement with the government

A 15-man Saudi team that flew to Turkey before the killing of Jamal Khashoggi must have been acting on orders, Turkey's Foreign Minister said, although he reiterated Ankara's position that the directions had not come from King Salman.

The official confirmed details in report published Monday in Turkey's pro-government Sabah newspaper that said the two men - a chemist and a toxicologist - were part of a larger team of Saudi investigators sent to Turkey, ostensibly to aid their Turkish counterparts.

The two experts, whom the newspaper described as "cleaners", reportedly visited their country's consulate every day for a week, before leaving Turkey on October 17.

Two sons of killed journalist Jamal Khashoggi want his body to return to Saudi Arabia for burial.

He told the hearing that King Salman had instructed the Saudi public prosecutor to "proceed with the investigation into this case according to the applicable laws" with a view to establishing the facts and "bringing all the perpetrators to justice".

Cavusoglu said Tuesday that after multiple conversations with Saudi King Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is convinced the king was not involved.

It is alleged that the powerful heir to the throne must have at a minimum been aware of the plan to kill Khashoggi, who had become increasingly critical of the Saudi royal family since moving to the United States in self-imposed exile in 2017.

In his interview with Fox News, Prince Alwaleed denied reports that he had been tortured in custody and that officials stripped him of his wealth.

Saudi officials have been forced to admit that the death of Mr Khashoggi was "premeditated" after pressure continued to mount from Turkish officials.

In an interview with CNN, Salah and Abdullah Khashoggi said that without giving a proper burial to the late Washington Post columnist, their family is unable to mourn or deal with the burden of the shocking death.

Khashoggi's remains are still missing.

The other day there was an event held by Saudi Arabia, and I did not participate in the conference and I cancelled the participation.

"I very much hope that what happened to him wasn't painful, or that he had a quick death without suffering", said 33-year-old Abdullah. The group paid over $100 billion in settlements for what Saudi authorities said were corruption charges.

"We just need to make sure that he rests in peace", Salah said.

In an interview with Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law and Middle East adviser, and John Bolton, national security adviser, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Khashoggi a sympathizer of the Muslim Brotherhood and a risky Islamist, however Khashoggi's sons pushed back on this.
