Flake concerned by Kavanaugh's 'partisan' interactions at U.S. Senate hearing

Michael Avenatti says the Kavanaugh FBI investigation is a 'farce and is being run by Donald Trump'

The White House, at the urging of the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Sen.

The votes of the three Republicans and those of red-state Democrats Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota will largely determine whether Kavanaugh is confirmed. Democrats had been calling for a limited investigation since the allegation emerged.

Judge's interview started but "has not been completed", his attorney said in a statement quoted by Fox News.

He was apparently referring to the series of sexual allegations against him.

Kavanaugh has denied that allegation. "This is not a man that said. he was flawless with respect to alcohol". The people spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive and politically charged law enforcement matter.

The new guidance, described to The Associated Press by a person familiar with it, was issued to the Federal Bureau of Investigation over the weekend in response to Democratic and news media pushback that the scope of the probe was too narrow. View more opinion articles on CNN.

Ford said during her testimony at a dramatic Senate hearing on Thursday that Judge was in the bedroom where the alleged assault by Kavanaugh occurred. She said he pinned her to a bed, attempted to forcibly remove her clothes and prevented her from screaming.

"People felt very strongly about the hearings and what was going on", Flake said. He also criticized Democratic Sens. Chris Coons of DE, who helped broker a deal with key Republicans to secure the limited FBI investigation.

"He said very intently, 'This is tearing our country apart.' We have to do something", said Coons, a Delaware Democrat. "I don't think this one will either", he said.

The president told reporters on Monday: "The FBI should interview anybody that they want within reason, but you have to say within reason". "It's not as hard as Republicans hope it will be". Their position is precarious.

"The Supreme Court is one of the last bastions of trust".

"The time for endless delay and obstruction has come to a close", he said.

Kavanaugh and Judge have also denied Swetnick's allegations. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, said McConnell's spokesman Don Stewart. "And Mr. President we'll be voting this week".

Late Monday, Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate will vote on Kavanaugh this week.

Flake and Sens. Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska were instrumental last week in holding up Kavanaugh's confirmation vote.

Mr Judge's testimony is considered key to the investigation, as Professor Christine Blasey Ford says he was in the room when Brett Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted her at a house in 1982.

'I'm instructing them as per what I feel the Senate wants, ' Trump said. I knew Brett at Yale because I was a classmate and a varsity basketball player and Brett enjoyed socializing with athletes.

"Dr. Ford, Julie Swetnick, and the other accusers of Brett Kavanaugh have sacrificed their privacy, safety and normal lives in order to speak their truth", Patty Seger, executive director of End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin, said Friday. "It's not describable. It's not fair", he said.

The highly-anticipated full Senate vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will happen by October 6, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-K.Y.) said.

Trump said Kavanaugh has been treated horribly.

Mark Judge, who has denied any wrongdoing, completed his interview with FBI agents as part of the reopened background investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh, said his lawyer, Barbara "Biz" Van Gelder. That means if all the Democrats vote against Kavanaugh, Trump could not afford to have more than one Republican oppose his nominee, with Vice President Mike Pence casting a tiebreaking vote.Trump said he believed Kavanaugh did not lie during his Judiciary Committee testimony about the extent of his drinking in high school and college.

'I did also say within the bounds of what the Senate wants. "I continue to strongly support Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court". At the news conference, Trump somewhat undercut his own nominee, suggesting Kavanaugh had acknowledged "difficulty" with alcohol and noting how frequently he had referenced beer.

"Whatever it is they do, they'll be doing things that we've never even though of", Trump said.

"I've been failing my tribe for some time now", he continued.

Kavanaugh was scheduled to teach a three-week course called The Supreme Court Since 2005.
