'First Lady represented America very well': Trump summarises Melania trip

First lady Melania Trump Women accusing men should 'show the evidence'

On her first stop, Melania visited children at a healthcare center with the country's First Lady before laying a wreath at at a slave fortress on the coast of Ghana.

Laura Seay, an assistant professor at Colby College who studies African politics, conflict and development, tells NPR the pith helmet, a thick form of head protection, also came about because of unscientific - and later debunked - theories colonialists had about risky radiation in the tropics.

"That's very important what I do, what we're doing with USA aid and what I do with my initiatives and I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear", she said.

Asked if she believed Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of sexual abusing her when they were teenagers, the first lady said, "I will move on that".

On her trip, Trump has promoted the advocacy initiative "Be Best", which she launched earlier this year.

The first steps of the visit of Melania Trump in Africa, presented as a "diplomatic and humanitarian", have not mobilized the crowds or aroused of genuine fervour.

Melania wrapped up her eventful trip in Egypt, where she met president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his wife Entissar al-Sisi, before touring the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx.

In an official statement relayed by the US Embassy in Cairo on Sunday, the White House said that Mrs Trump visited a few of Egypt's many cultural sites, including the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid of Giza - one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Many also referenced other occasions that the first lady has caused controversy with her fashion choices.

She will have a couple of weeks to return to her normal duties, after her tour of Africa. No word on what she actually does, though.

At least one baby elephant got a little too rowdy and caused a U.S. Secret Service agent to step in and hold the first lady back, Kenyan newspaper The Star reported.

At the time, the US President was being widely criticised for maintaining a policy that separated children from their parents after they were detained at the US border. Michelle Obama's gowns were subject to thousands of column inches.

Apparently, the FLOTUS feels "victimized and even bullied at times" when it comes to criticism of her clothing choices. It must then go to the presidential palace, according to the egyptian press.

"I give him my honest opinion and honest advice", she said. President Donald Trump tweeted this earlier in the week.

And yet, in that ideal world, the First Lady would actually have something to say. "And that was anonymous source and I would leave it at that", she said.
