Mauricio Pochettino says his side are BOLD for not signing anyone

Mauricio Pochettino not expecting Tottenham signings before 5pm but insists he is happy with players he has

"I think I want to make clear that all are fit, but maybe we need to care for some players and not push them to compete, not take some rash decisions with some players due to their background or for different reasons that we are assessing now after Monday".

Spurs are yet to sign or sell any senior players, and the Premier League transfer window closes at 5 p.m. BST.

Villa's new executive chairman Nassef Sawiris has made clear the 22-year-old is not for sale and has rebuffed an approach from Tottenham, the player's long-time suitors.

Spurs were linked with Aston Villa's Jack Grealish, however, a deal was not completed, leaving manager Pochettino without any fresh faces in London.

Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele could still leave in the next few weeks, but Pochettino has been able to keep hold of the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Kieran Trippier.

"We have a very good squad, with very good players and it is very hard to add players to that", Pochettino added. "We saw with Arsenal they had to sell a player every summer - if Spurs can get away with that then fair play". [It's about] if you really need [them] or not and then if you can get your target or not.

Mauricio Pochettino says rising stadium costs, Brexit and building a new training ground were the reasons behind why Tottenham didn't sign any players this summer, according to TeamTalk.

"Our targets are always in the same level of Real Madrid or Manchester United or Manchester City, but for different circumstances we can not achieve that".

"I think it was a great job from the club to keep the best players - and the best manager".

"I am not anxious, I am not sad, I am so happy".

"With Brexit it is worse because the cost is 30 percent more - that is a drama, I feel sorry for the English people - and then keeping the best players, for me [that] is to be fearless".

Pochettino does accept how the lack of activity might be viewed externally, but is happy with the club's vision.

"Of course it's hard to understand for people that Tottenham didn't sign or sell players, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently". When it's not possible it's not possible and you have to move on and believe in the way we work and be competitive. "We all know the situation".
